🎓 Eligibility

AFCAT 02/2026 Flying, Ground Duty, NCC Special Entry and GATE Score Entry:

Candidate must satisfy the official AFCAT 02/2026 branch-wise conditions.



1Nationality and marital status: Candidate must be an Indian citizen and must be unmarried at the time of commencement of course. Marriage is not permitted during training.

2Flying Branch age: 20 to 24 years as on 01 July 2027. Candidate must be born between 02 July 2003 and 01 July 2007, both dates inclusive. Valid current DGCA Commercial Pilot Licence holders may be relaxable up to 26 years.

3Ground Duty age: Technical and Non-Technical Ground Duty branches require 20 to 26 years as on 01 July 2027. Candidate must be born between 02 July 2001 and 01 July 2007, both dates inclusive.

4Flying Branch qualification: Mathematics and Physics at 10+2 level plus graduation in any discipline, or B.E./B.Tech, or cleared Section A & B examination of IEI / Aeronautical Society of India, as per notification.

5Ground Duty Technical: Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level plus eligible engineering / technology qualification for AE(L) or AE(M), or eligible GATE score entry qualification where applicable.

6Ground Duty Non-Technical: Administration / Logistics require 10+2 and graduate degree; Accounts requires eligible commerce / finance qualification; Education requires post-graduation with graduation; Meteorology requires the listed science / engineering qualifications.

7NCC Special Entry: Candidate must satisfy Flying Branch eligibility and hold the required NCC Air Wing Senior Division 'C' Certificate as per the notification.


Important: Final year / semester candidates may apply only if they have no present backlog and can submit proof of completion of final exams by 30 May 2027. Candidates who earlier failed CPSS or were suspended from flying training are not eligible for Flying Branch.

AFCAT candidates whose applications are accepted will appear in the online AFCAT examination on 08 August 2026. The AFCAT paper has 100 objective questions for 300 marks, with three marks for each correct answer and one mark deducted for each incorrect answer. Candidates declared successful in the online AFCAT, shortlisted NCC Special Entry candidates, and shortlisted GATE Score Entry candidates will be called for AFSB testing. Final selection is subject to eligibility, AFSB performance, medical fitness, merit position, branch preferences and available vacancies.

Indian Air Force has released the official AFCAT 02/2026 notification for courses commencing in July 2027. The recruitment is for Group A Gazetted Officers in Flying Branch and Ground Duty Technical and Non-Technical branches, along with NCC Special Entry and GATE Score Entry. Online applications are accepted from 20 May 2026 at 11:00 AM to 19 June 2026 up to 11:30 PM through the official AFCAT portal.
